چکیده

In Merino wethers, increasing the intake of cystine-S or inorganic SO,-S under steady state feeding conditions significantly increased ruminal sulphide concentrations and decreased the flow of soluble copper to the omasum. The curvilinear regression of soluble Cu outflow (y, mg/day) on ruminal S= levels (x, ,ug-ml) was y = 5.57 -2.36x+ 0.491x20.0333~3 (r = 0.95; P<O.OOl), but the flow of soluble Cu was not significantly correlated with the flow of protein from t h e rumen (r = 0.48). A highly significant depression in potentially available Cu occurred when the S-intake was increased from 0.6 g/day to 1.95 to 3.4 g/day but levels of ruminal SE greater than about 2pg S/ml did not further reduce this flow below approximately 1.75 mg soluble Cu/day.

Some effects of sulphur intake on molybdenum metabolism in sheep.

1. To investigate the effects of sulphur intake on molybdenum metabolism in sheep, ewes were given intakes of 0.3 or 3.5 mg Mo and 0.98, 1.33, 1.73 or 3.23 g S/d in a 2x4 factorial experiment with two replicates lasting 35 d. 99Mo with 0.1 mg carrier Mo was infused intravenously for the last 14 d and, when 99Mo concentrations in urine and faeces had attained plateaux (days 11-14), stable Mo and...

Study on the effect of high calcium intake on serum protein bound iodine and urinary excretion of iodine

Iodine deficiency remains a major health problem in the world, including some parts of Iran. It has been recognized that there is usually a close and inverse relationship between iodine in the soil and water and presence of endemic goiter. Calcium has been suggested as one of goitrogens, though the definite role, extent and mechanism particularly in human have not been studied. Serum protein-...

The role of organic sulphur in the copper-molybdenum-S interrelationship in ruminant nutrition.

1. The ability of organic and inorganic sulphur to influence the copper and molybdenum metabolism of sheep was compared in a series of three 2 X 2 factorial design experiments. In each experiment, four groups of five to seven hypocupraemic ewes were repleted with a basal diet supplemented with 6 mg Cu/kg and containing S and Mo at one of two concentrations, 1 or 4 g S and 0-5 or 4-5 mg Mo/kg re...

The Effects of Use Medicinal Plants on Rumen Fermentation Parameters in Ruminants

Rumen is a persistent and specific ecosystem consists of bacteria, protozoa and fungus where feed fermentation takes place in it. Produced Hydrogen in rumen can be used in the synthesis of the volatile fatty acids and the microbial protein and its excess would be eliminated through the production of Methane by methanogenesis. Nutritionists have tried to find ways to decrease loss and energy and...

Studies of the changes in systemic copper metabolism and excretion produced by the intravenous administration of trithiomolybdate in sheep.

1. The effects of intravenous trithiomolybdate administration on the fate of 64Cu and on stable Cu metabolism were examined in sheep held in metabolism cages and fed on a low-Cu diet supplying 2.95 mg Cu/animal per d. 2. In Expt 1 the injection of trithiomolybdate, 30 mg molybdenum/sheep per d for 5 d, greatly increased plasma Cu levels and more than doubled the faecal Cu excretion. Urinary Cu ...
